hand. We have put together a guide that aims to help you keep a clear head and do the right things.
Tutor Your private tutor is probably very seasoned with the method of examination of the subject. They can point out the important questions and concepts. Learn from them and streamline your revision.
Regular Fun Who says you can’t keep to your regular activities during exam period? Allocate time for your weekly workout, your favourite television program or game. Take a break, but make sure you go back to revision too!
Revision Papers Strategy Do it the smart way. Find out all that you can about the exam format (MCQs, essays, short answer), topics covered, mark allocation. Plan your strategy! Know how much time to spend on each section, which section to tackle first. Should you have completed revising your notes and textbook, always practice with revision papers. Past year papers of your school will offer valuable insights as to the critical concepts to know.
Sleep
Burning the mid-night oil may seem like the industrious way to go, but it harms more than it helps. Compromising on sleep will affect your level of alertness in class. Comparing a student who is half asleep in class to one who is 100% awake, much revision time (3hrs/day) is lost in school. Teachers may be dropping hints as to what will be tested. Sleep enough and listen in class!
Bit by bit
Have a To Do List, laying what’s to be completed each day and have the satisfaction of crossing each item off at the end of the day! It keeps you up to schedule too.
Regular Breaks
After 50 min of revision, leave your desk for a 10 min break. Take a walk, drink up or munch on your favourite snack. It helps your brain to replenish and absorb better thereafter.
Musical Boost
Baroque music, such as Mozart, is best friend to revision. The rhythms are more harmonious with the body’s compared to Hip Hop or RnB music. It keeps your right brain occupied as our left brain does the knowledge processing. This ensures your right brain does not get bored and start to daydream.
